Morris Cove

Here are a set of photo's taken at Morris Cove. This is one of my favorite places to try and catch the waves breaking against the rocks. At low tide there was a lot of algae exposed that was bright green and yellow. While trying to get this last photo, I had my back turned to the water and a big wave came in and got me a little wet. These photos were taken with a Canon XT, Canon 17-40mm and 10-22mm lens, with SanDisk Ultra II digital film.

Margaret Bay

This is a photo that I took from the beach across from the Grand Aleutian hotel where I was staying. It was one of the very few times that I actually got to see the sun. Although it stays light until around 1AM, there are almost always clouds blocking the sun.

Summer's Bay

Here are a couple photos from Summer's Bay. There are a lot of cool rocks along the shore and I spent plenty of time trying to find the best place to take a picture. These are a few of the places that I found. Canon XT, Canon 17-40mm Lens, with SanDisk UltraII digital Film.

WWII

With it being memorial day today, I thought I would post a picture that I took on Saturday. It is of a gun turret called a Panama Mount, which a 155mm gun was place. The gun would fire a 95lb projectile 12 miles and took 13 men to fire it and another 13 men for ammunition supply. The gun turret is over looking Summer's Bay and Morris Cove. Dutch Harbor was attacked by the Japanese on June 3rd 1942.

With all the snow melting off the mountians, the flow of water has really picked up during my few weeks here.
